" OH SO TENDER"
I have been patronizing this fine establishment for many years. Always for lunch and always with top clients of mine. The food is the freshest and most consistent of any Chinese Restaurant in Bakersfield. We usually order a la carte. Today we ordered the following: pot stickers, Walnut Shrimp, Moo Shu Pork and Chicken Fried Rice. "OMG" the pot stickers with the hot oil and ginger sauce BOMB! Walnut Shrimp which is candied Is unbelievable and the Moo Shu Pork are like little burritos with mega awesomeness plumb sauce. Lastly, the chicken fried rice is wonderful in its self. The wait staff is always very attentive and accommodating. I believe most staff members are also family. Great Castle can be recommend as a fine dining establishment in Bakersfield. -

Tip them a 20% or die.
Seriously, I tipped a roughly 13% and I was yelled at and embarrassed. The waiter probably cussed my out in every way he could is Chinese. So did the owner. I was upset, but also sad because the food is so good.
Eat here, it's delicious. Just Remember to tip like never before. -

I lived in Bakersfield for a year but didn't venture to this side of town often. It's not the best neighborhood.. can't ignore that! We were passing through from our way up north and decided to stop by here since everyone wanted Chinese food and the reviews were good. Again.. it's not the best neighborhood.
When you come in, it feels like a traditional Chinese restaurant. I docked off a star because the place looks old and isn't the cleanest when you look a little closer.
Still gets 4 stars, the service was great (we came in at 8:30pm on a Sunday - Yelp said it closes at 10pm but they closed at 9!) despite us coming in so late. They didn't even mention that part, they were polite the whole time.
They had our food out so fast that we were done with dinner right at 9pm. The honey walnut shrimp was my favorite (amongst other honey walnut shrimp I've had in Chinatown in LA). -

This place has just gone down the drain... and I hope you guys make a smart choice after my post. And this isn't the first time this place has been known for this.

Service was fast and good. They have a limited menu for lunch but a good portion for the price. Had the Kung Pao combination shrimp & chicken, which came with soup, rice, & egg roll. It was a pleasant meal. My coworker, who I went with, said it was a bit salty and the meal overall was too oily. I would come here again but will be trying their other dishes. Some of their fortune cookies has jokes inside them, which is a nice treat at the end of your meal.
